We have put together some information for our staying customers so that the accommodation would be as comfortable as possible. Welcome to Varjola and we hope you enjoy!


Accommodation

There are fridges and a microwave in common use for those staying in the Riihi Rooms. Fridges can be found in the outside corridor. Fridges have shelves divided by room, so please put your things on the right shelf. Microwave can be found next to the fridge in the outside corridor of the Vakka house. A fridge and a microwave are also available for shared use for those staying in Pihatupa.


Dining

Varjola also serves food for greater hunger. In the winter season, the dining is in the Barn Restaurant and in the summer season in Bistro Sylvi. The Barn Restaurant is open from August to June on Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 9pm (kitchen will be closed at 8.30pm).

The Barn Restaurant serves mainly Barn Menu which is served as plates to the table. Please make table reservation in advance. You can find the Barn Menu on our website: https://www.varjola.com/en/barnrestaurant

If you are staying on weekdays and would like to dine, please contact us. We mainly serve groups on weekdays, so restaurant may be open during your visit.


Things to do during the stay

There are plenty of activities available during the stay. Depending on the time of your stay, we have open weekly programs for which you can participate without a group booking. You can see the activities of the weekly programme: https://www.varjola.com/en/summer

Activities suitable for smaller groups include water rafting (min. 4 persons group), arctic floating, snowmobile safari, wire slip above river or a open smoke sauna shift.

It is also possible to rent hiking equipment from us. We offer e-fatbikes, snowshoes, slide snowshoes and backpack with snacks and needs. Activities are mainly organized from Monday to Saturday depending on availability.

Varjola also has saunas where our customers can relax. Open smoke sauna shifts are available every week, depending on the time of year. The dates of the open sauna shifts are shown in the weekly programme. However, it is also possible to book a private sauna shift with a jacuzzi for a smaller traditional sauna at a special price of 50 €/1,5h (max 4 persons). Things to do for free

Varjola also has a lot to do for free. There are outdoor trails from Varjola yard, where you can hike, bike or ski. Next to the rapids is a shelter and a Hut, which can be used independently. The hut is kept locked, but from the reception of the door code.

You can also play a variety of outdoor plays while visiting. You can borrow Mölkky or board games from us. You can also throw a frisbee, we have a couple baskets in the yard. You can ask about outdoor games from reception.

Varjola does not have an official beach, but you can go swimming from the beach marked on the map. You can also use the Lahdenpelto dock if there aren’t customers at Lahdenpelto.
